Miss Ruby Reviews: The Magic Wand Mini

As seen at Miss Ruby Reviews, June 28, 2022.

This is sooooo exciting! A miniature, petite version of the legendary Magic Wand!!!

Design.
I squealed when I heard that Vibratex, makers of the infamous Magic Wand, were releasing their first petite version: the Magic Wand Mini.

There are already three other Magic Wands out there: the Magic Wand Rechargeable (MWR), the corded Magic Wand Plus, and the original (porous) Hitachi Magic Wand. Out of those three, the new Magic Wand Mini is essentially a smaller duplicate of the Magic Wand Rechargeable.

I absolutely loved the Magic Wand Rechargeable and it became one of my most beloved wands of all time, but I LOVE a good petite wand and so the Magic Wand Mini is a welcome addition to my bedroom.

The Magic Wand Mini is a shorter, narrower version of the Magic Wand Rechargeable. Asides from size, updated logo, and buttons, they are nearly identical.

The Magic Wand Mini is about 24.5cm long, shorter than the full-size MWR’s 33.5cm. As a result, it’s a lot lighter than the full-size version and feels a lot more petite and maneuverable in the bedroom.

Like with previous versions, the Magic Wand Mini has a slightly flexible neck. The head is coated in matte bodysafe silicone and the body is a shiny hard ABS plastic. This toy is rechargeable but not waterproof.

Unlike the full-size Magic Wand Rechargeable, the Magic Wand Mini offers 3 steady states. There are no patterns.

Aesthetically, the Hitachi Magic Wands by Vibratex always go for a more medical/functional appearance. They’re white and blue and look like they would be at home in a physiotherapist’s office. Some shoppers will appreciate how they look less like a sex toy and more like a back massager (and so are more discreet).

Accessibility.
This section is to help folks determine if they might have any issues using/accessing this toy.
Size: The Magic Wand Mini is approximately 24.5cm long and nearly 5cm wide (at the head). The cord is 1.8m long.
Weight: My scale says this toy weighs close to 280 grams. This makes the Magic Wand Mini somewhat hefty for a petite wand.
Buttons: There are 3 buttons along the side of the body. The power button is 7mm round. The (+) and (–) buttons are 10x8mm rectangular. There is a 4mm gap between the buttons. They take little pressure to press and make a soft ‘click’ sound.
Vibration transfer: Like with the Magic Wand Rechargeable, very few vibrations transfer down the handle. Remarkably little. If you have joint sensitivity, this is a good choice.

How to Use the Magic Wand Mini.
The Magic Wand Mini is controlled by 3 buttons on the body of the toy.
To turn the Magic Wand Mini on, tap the power button.
To increase the intensity, tap the (+) button. There are 3 steady states of increasing power to cycle through.
To decrease power, tap the (–) button.
Apply to your body. Though this massager is mainly used for the clitoris and vulva, if you have a penis you can use it against your shaft. This toy is not recommended for internal use.
To turn it off, tap the power button again.

The Magic Wand Mini has a built-in mechanism that turns it off after 20 minutes of use to prevent overheating.

Packaging.
The Magic Wand Mini is packaged similarly to other Magic Wand products. The box is sturdy cardboard that feels functional rather than luxurious. Inside the box, you receive the Wand Mini, a charging cord (that plugs into your wall), and a booklet of instructions.

No storage pouch is included. If you’d like one (which I recommend, because you don’t want to lose the charging cord), I recommend grabbing something like the Blush Antibacterial Toy Bag.

Material and Care.
The Magic Wand Mini is made of ABS plastic (the body) and silicone (the head). Silicone is fantastic because it’s nonporous, nontoxic, and easy to clean.

If you’d like to use lubricant with this toy, choose a good quality water-based lube like my favourite basic, paraben-free Sliquid H2O. Whatever you do, don’t use silicone-based lubricants as that will damage the silicone finish of the head.

The Magic Wand Mini is NOT waterproof nor water-resistant. Do not let water near this product, even when it’s not charging/plugged in. To clean, Vibratex recommends turning it off and to simply “wipe the product clean carefully before and after each use.” In my opinion, this is the biggest drawback to this product. Other petite wands like the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand (review here) are completely waterproof.

The Magic Wand Mini is rechargeable (and it’ll pulse red when the battery is low). To charge, insert the charger into the port at the base of the toy. Then plug it into the wall. A full charge takes about 4 hours and gets you up to 2.5 hours of playtime.

My Experience with the Magic Wand Mini.
The 3-speed Magic Wand Mini is 31% shorter than the 4-speed Magic Wand Rechargeable. Given that, how does the Magic Wand Mini compare to its full-size cousin? Should you buy the Magic Wand Mini instead of the Magic Wand Rechargeable?

When it comes to vibration strength, I’d say that the Magic Wand Mini’s top speed is about as strong as the Magic Wand Rechargeable second (out of 4) speeds. In other words, it’s about as half as strong. It’s also not quite as rumbly as the full-size version.

While this may not sound like much, in practice it is still plenty strong for my clitoris. I find the Magic Wand Mini very pleasurable and can orgasm easily. The vibrations reverberate through the whole upper half of my vulva. However, it does not and cannot pack the full powerhouse of strength or rumble that the larger version does.

Though not as strong, this fact shouldn’t immediately dissuade you from the Magic Wand Mini. As a trade-off, it’s a LOT lighter and nimble. It’s easier to travel with and store. That smaller size also takes up much less real estate against your vulva, which means it’s easier to use during vaginal sex, whatever the position. If you’ve never used a full-size wand before, you’d be surprised at what a task it can be – it’s a big, heavy club and not everyone wants that during sex.

The smaller head also delivers more focused stimulation, making this more appealing to users who prefer something more targeted.

Magic Wand Mini Review – Overall Thoughts.
The Magic Wand Mini isn’t as powerful or rumbly as its full-size cousin, the Magic Wand Rechargeable. However, it’s a LOT cheaper, nimbler, easier to travel with, and easier to maneuver during sex.

If you are a power queen that wants as much power as possible, and money is no object, I’d skip the Mini and go right for the Magic Wand Rechargeable. But if you are sticking to a budget and you want something more discreet, the Magic Wand Mini is a good contender.
